BEST SWEET POTATO FRIES EVER

hubble and hudson market burger/sandwich bar http://hubbellandhudson.com/images/pdfs/sandwichbarmenu.pdf

the slightest of char, such a slight hint of rosemary that it would be difficult to pinpoint exactly what it was without knowing beforehand unless one has an extremely sensitive palate, crisp exterior, fluffy interior, perfectly seasoned, so glad i ate most on the car ride home as the cooled ones were not nearly as amazing.

burger was just alright, a better bun would have elevated it from a B grade to a B+

i found this girl who looks just like timmys little sister but older version
i friended her on facebook =P our only mutual friend suggested our friendship...

can only see one reason why she would

Saw Daniel Mueller Schott's debut with the Houston Symphony last night. Amazing cellist, amazing performance, great encore performance of Maurice Ravel's Habenera. Strangely enough i posted on my facebook status that I had had a long day at work and was looking forward to hearing Schott play some Ravel but i failed to realize that the program was actually Schott playing Haydn's Cello concerto in D major and the Ravel pieces were just symphony. sooooo my status came true.

ive never wanted to get up in the middle of a classical performance and start cheering and clapping until last night, so moved was i by the performance that i had to suppress my urges to do so.

Butter was on sale yesterday
bought 3 boxes and put 2 in the freezer, picked up that tip from some blog

some flavor combos ive been thinking of lately to try in baking:
white chocolate and orange... maybe http://www.thegalleygourmet.net/2011/04/strawberry-and-white-chocolate-mousse.html, maybe adapt this recipe with some orange marmalade or have some grand marnier and orange zest in the glaze
lime coconut, ooo tropical, its already summer here haha
saw artichokes at heb, never cooked one before, maybe some stuffed artichoke with parmesan  grueyere aioli?

latest eye candy: ludmilla dom perignon
caught my eye on latest french connection catalogue: you are woman? campaign

she looks good on catwalks, dont really like her other print work

made some profiteroles... thought i poked a hole in each to let the steam out, but when they cooled they all collapsed so that was a fail... the custard injection kinda helped to re inflate but not really. i think i can do them well next time.

LOLA brunch, chicken and fruit waffles with maple smoked bacon. i like crispy waffles... they were not crispy, i like crispy bacon... they were not crispy. chicken was nicely fried; batter a little greasy and chicken only slightly overcooked, but it was breast meat so wasnt expecting incredible juiciness. nicely seasoned with something identified by dining companion paul as something asian. fresh fruit and whipped cream on the waffle was nice but a little out of character with the iconic soul food dish they were trying to portray with chicken and waffles.

first paintball experience

What i ate today

Breakfast: I made a buttermilk tart in the wee hours of last night, from this recipe http://www.thegalleygourmet.net/2010/11/11232010-buttermilk-tart-i-know-many-of.html
all the cooling and coming to room temperature takes awhile so dont start making this at 830pm like i did. so i had a slice of this............and then it was good so i had another slice.... and another after that, and a jimmy deans sage sausage patty, i prefer the maple or hot, but tried the sage this time. and also some egg whites leftover from the yolks i used for the buttermilk tart. forgot to use some caramel sauce on the buttermilk tart, but it was sweet enough without it.

for lunch, found a sonic coupon for 2 of their new hotdogs with med tater tots and med drink for $5... tried the ny style and chicago. previously tried the chicago but wasnt as good today as i remember it. liked the crunch of the poppyseeds on the bun but the peppers were not as long and tough to bite through. i do like the combo of mustard and relish. i expected the ny to be disagreeable to my palate as i dont care much for sauerkraut but the flavor of the sauerkraut was not authentic and as pungent as it should be so it was surprisingly good.

dinner was another hot dog this from a new food truck called good dog hot dog.
i got the ol zapata dog. sits on a slow dough bun which is amazing, great texture and umami with some sweetness. wished it was on the slow dough pretzel dough like moon tower inn but this was nearly as good. sausage had great flavor with a little spice lots of snap in the casing without being too difficult to bite through. toppings on this dog were bacon bits, shredded muenster cheese, caramelized onions, tomatoes, jalapeno relish, ketchup and mayo. loved all the toppings, even though i was worried because i forgot to order it with no mayo, it was very subdued and mild and did well to anchor the other condiments. at 4.75 it was pricey for a hotdog considering it's size, but given the right mood and some extra bucks in my pocket i would definitely go try their other flavors
